Sleeping Baby

Everyone always says never to wake a sleeping baby. I have found that it is one of the sweetest things to watch Lukas sleep. This could be partly because he spends most of his day sleeping at this point so I don't see him a lot of other ways. I am not sure he appreciates the photo shoots I attempt while he is taking his naps. The flash doesn't seem to bother him too much though. He just looks so peaceful I can't pass up the chance to capture these moments!

There may be only one thing more precious than my sleeping baby.... and that is both of my boys sleeping together! Lukas loves to take naps with his daddy. Erin has had to take a class for school this week. He has had to go to Hays for the day, which hasn't been easy leaving Lukas all day. When he gets back though they get their boy bonding time and take a nap together. I think Lukas likes the break he gets from the women, his mommy and Aunt Christy, which he has been spending most of his days with :)

Introducing ....Lukas Beck

The time finally came and Lukas Michael Beck is here. He was born on Monday, July 19th at 5:53 p.m. He weighed 7 lbs. 6 oz. and was 19 inches long. We were very fortunate to have such a good delivery.

This was shortly after he was born. From the moment he was born he worked and worked to get his eyes open. The lights were so bright it took him a little bit. He spent the evening just looking around and trying to take everything in.

The Men in My LIFE!!! I have loved watching Erin with Lukas. He just loves to cuddle with his daddy! Erin has been a huge help to me. He has become a pro of changing diapers already.

We got to come home yesterday morning. A lot of family and friends have been able to come by and meet Lukas. He is loving every minute of it (well I guess the few minutes that he actually spends awake). I will add more pictures and updates soon, but atleast its a start!

Patience is Running LOW

Okay so I know it has been over a week since my last post. The sad thing is, its not that I have been really busy and have not had a chance to update. I have been putting it off actually on purpose. The whole plan was the next post I had would introduce the new member of our family... sounds exciting I know. The problem is he has decided not to come out and meet everyone yet. I have apparently made it way too comfortable in there for him and he is quite content with it. Through this whole pregnancy our due date has changed 3 times. We were originally given July 10th, then it went to July 17th, and then finally changed to July 14th. The last one is the one they have stuck with thinking it was most accurate. Just in case you don't realize, 2 of these dates have come and gone and we are a day away from the 3rd! I have now decided I hate due dates, and they do nothing but get my hopes up. The good thing is that I am still feeling pretty good. Atleast if I am still pregnant I can still be comfortable, to an extent. I keep telling myself he will come when he is ready and to just be patient. I am just getting very anxious to actually hold him in my arms and to see Erin get to hold him as well. Lets hope he decides to come out soon!

39 weeks down...

Today marks the 39th week point! We had a doctor appointment yesterday to check and see how things are going. Not a whole lot of change from last week, but almost dialated up to 2cm. I guess its at least some progress. We are still just waiting to see when the little guy decides to make his grand entrance. Its too bad people can't predict this stuff better. I could really plan my days better if I knew when he was coming :) We will try to keep everyone posted!

Creativity...

I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July! I know the weather was a bit of a damper around here, but GB still went crazy on the fireworks. We enjoyed hanging out with some of my family for the day. For the evening we went out to the Chambers' house to watch the night works going off in town. We had a cookout with a lot of great food. I always like to take desserts to things like this. I LOVE desserts, but if I make them at home I end up eating the whole thing. (Erin isn't a big sweets guy.) So I take full advantage of things like this. I also like to make things that look extra special for holidays.... the Red Devil Cake Trifle turned out very well!!!

I also decided to entertain myself with some sewing projects on Monday. My mom had given me a sewing machine for a bridal gift before our wedding (2 years ago), and I have now actually taken it out and used it. I think Erin was quite surprised that I knew how to use it. I had to try and remember everything I had learned from the good old days back in 4-H, but it went very well! I am not ready to really challenge myself much yet, but I did successfully make a new baby blanket! It has the sports on one side and just plain black on the other. I am thinking of trying some burp clothes next with some scrap material... I will let you know how that goes.
