Skyfort is Complete

Like I had mentioned in an earlier post, Lukas is one lucky little boy.  His grandparents all wanted him to have a play set in his own backyard, so for his 2nd birthday he got the Skyfort.  Now I know my mind is a little out of it lately but I do realize he isn't quite 2 yet.  What good is it though to get a play set at the end of the summer.  So he just got the present a little bit early.

After working on it for what seemed like never ending hours, day after day, it is finally complete and looks great!  Lukas runs around on it and always talks about the slide.  He is still a little unsure of the slide though, it is a little fast for him, but he will get it figured out.

My husband did an AMAZING job of getting it all organized and put together.  Thanks also to Dad, Mom, and Dustin who took the time to assist in the project.  It helped keep Erin sane :)

Everything organized and ready to be sealed.

I hope everyone has a great week.  It is my last week this week and Erin has his last day tomorrow to just check out.  Lukas is excited to be home for SUMMER! (Although he is really confused that we keep talking about our friends' dog named Summer all the time.)

What a Weekend

**WARNING:  Post got a little long **

We had a very busy, but yet productive weekend.  It was our nephew Cade's 2nd birthday on Saturday.  (I can't believe he is already 2)  I had a track meet on Friday so we were not going to be able to make it up there for the party.  Lucky for Lukas though he was able to tag along with Grandpa and Grandma for the weekend.  Lukas and Cade seem to interact more and more every time they get together, and this trip was no exception.  He obviously had a great time cause he has been looking for Cade all night.  At dinner he even had a little break down when I told him Cade wasn't here cause he was at his house.  Lukas was a worn out little boy and feel asleep early tonight so I know he has been playing hard all weekend.

We did get some pictures of the trip throughout the weekend though so enjoy.

Since we were childless for the weekend Erin and I tried to take full advantage and get some things done around the house.  The first project Erin had to tackle was an on going one from the week before.  We had to fix a stain problem on our fence.  We decided we didn't like the red stain color, so Erin and a lot of help from my Dad took care of it.  They actually palm sanded the whole front fence to get it back to its original color and then Erin put a clear sealant on it to keep it looking good.  It looks SOO much better and now and we are very happy with it.

We also did some yard work and bought some new plants to improve the landscaping.  We try to just add a couple new things each year so we don't get overwhelmed.  Erin had to move one of our sprinklers to prepare of the next project we have being delivered this week....... WAIT FOR IT......

The SKYFORT is supposed to arrive in pieces on Monday.  Both Erin and I's parents have realized that you only turn 2 once and what little boy doesn't need a play set in their yard.   We looked in to all sorts of different ones and thought we would go all out with this one.  It is an early birthday present for Lukas so he can enjoy it all summer long.  He is obsessed with slides right now so I know he is going to love it!  He is one very lucky little boy :)

Sweet Sunday

Today was a great family Sunday!  Erin was a sponsor for Confirmation at our church so we went to church last night, which gave us a chance to just sleep in this morning.  We decided to take Lukas out to see if we could catch some fish.  It was a little windy and tad bit chilly, but he loved throwing the rocks in the water and digging in the sand.  So even though we didn't catch any fish, I would call it a success.

Lukas has become very fascinated with outdoors.  He loves to just play and look around outside.  He notices the smallest bug and will just sit and watch it run away.  Lukas has also become quite obsessed with butterflies right now.  I swear he said the word like 100 times today :)  I, for some unknown reason, still have a butterfly net that I had gotten from my parents when I was little.  (I know I am a very sentimental person and have a hard time throwing things away, but I'm pretty sure this was just some random gift one birthday with no personal meaning.  Who knows how it has made it to still being around.)  It finally came in handy.  Lukas just carried it around the backyard looking for the butterflies.  He actually did get close one time to catching one.  I think the butterflies feel pretty safe with him swinging it around though.  Lukas thought it was great!

I have been trying to let Lukas help me with cooking and things around the kitchen more.  He loves to help out, so today we attempted to make a cheesecake for Erin's work.  Don't worry we washed up and didn't lick anything :)  He loved pouring things into the mixer, then he would spin around on the chair and scream as it would start mixing again.   We tried to get a picture, but it didn't turn out.

The weather was nice enough though for us to grill out and play some baseball in the yard.  I am looking forward to this warm weather coming in later this week.

I also wanted to give a shout out to Mark, who came to hang out with Erin last week and take him golfing.  Apparently Erin played really well, but the only person that can vouch for that lives in Alaska, so I'm not sure how many people will believe him.  Anyway it was great seeing you and having you stay for dinner.  I hope your trip back went well.  You are great proof to my husband of why it is important that I blog...... some people actually do read it that aren't my family :)

EASTER

Easter is a perfect start to Spring.  It gives us a chance to reflect on all the blessings we have and the sacrifice that Jesus made for us.  I love getting to spend time with our family and make such great memories.  This isn't Lukas' first Easter, but it was the first one he got more involved in.  We did three egg hunts and even attempted to dye eggs.  We missed the family we didn't get to see, but loved catching up with those that were here.

I am just going to share our pictures.  Please disregard the scowl looks on Lukas' face.  He just tends to do that in the sun.  (He gets that from his father).

Okay I have this bucket, now what
