Trip to Another Zoo

Yes we made another zoo trip this summer.  I have never been to the Sedgwick County Zoo and thought it would be a fun day adventure to finish up the summer.  Amanda and I loaded up the kiddos early one more and made a fun day of it.  I have heard mixed things about this zoo, but we really enjoyed it.  My kiddos are still big animal fans so they loved every minute of it.  (Not a lot of pictures but got a few)

A day at the Farm Zoo

Since Lukas is such a zoo fanatic we had to nick name the Deanna Rose Farmstead the farm zoo and then we have the KC zoo.  Well last week we got invited with the Hickel crew to go check it out.  It was actually hilarious because Lukas actually brought me my phone and said he was going to call Krystal (Hagen's mom) so he could go to his house and play.  The kid is always ready for something new.

We couldn't have asked for a better morning and the kiddos did great.  Thanks again for the invite!

Hall of Fame

This past week I got to be a part of something special.  My college basketball team got inducted into the MIAA Hall of Fame.  We were inducted for our National Championship in 2005.  They had a ceremony for all inductees for 2013, and listed off all of the accomplishments we had for the year.  The best part was getting to see my old team mates, parents, and our fans that came.  We spent the evening reminiscing on the past and talking about all of the great memories.  I look forward to seeing everyone again :)

Soup Supper

Growing up my family participated in an annual soup supper with some family friends.  It is a tradition that we look forward to every year to get together, catch up with everyone, and eat some great food.  This year I thought it would be fun to try it out with some of our friends.  It was a great way to get everyone in the Christmas spirit and get a chance to hang out in the middle of all the holiday chaos.

It was a huge success and enjoyed by all, atleast they said they had a good time :)  I'm not sure we escaped the holiday chaos when you have a house full of 9 children under the age of 5, but they were sure having a good time.  Each family brought a different soup and then we had a couple of snacks and finger foods to go along with it.  The food was delicious and kept everyone picking at it for most of the evening.  Hopefully this will be a tradition we can look forward to each year as well.

Jordan was very proud that he got Kate to sleep like this.

I didn't get many pictures (my son was really excited that all of his friends were here and was requiring a little extra attention to keep him in control) but the two I got were pretty funny atleast.

What a Group

A couple of weeks ago Katrina brought her kiddos over to meet Lawson and play with Lukas.  These four together is quite the handful :)  I was impressed with the pictures we ended up with.  Notice the toys in the boys' hands.  We were doing whatever we could to convince them to take a picture on the couch.  What fun we have ahead of us!!

Wedding Weekend

Over the weekend we made a quick trip to KC to be a part of Kyle's wedding.  Erin and Kyle were roommates through college and one of the first guys we met going to college.  Since we had a football game Friday night we missed some of the weekend festivities, but had a great time getting to see so many college friends and catch up with everyone.  It was a gorgeous wedding for such a great couple!  I had never been to an Italian wedding, but their tradition with the cake and cookies is something I could get used :)

Please excuse the horrible pictures.  I really did take the camera with us, but I left it in the diaper bag.  We used Erin's phone so they are a little blurry.

The cake and homemade cookies.... YUMMY

Lukas was a trooper through all of the traveling and loved getting to spend some quality time with his cousins Cade and Reese.  Aunt Jana I'm sure didn't have a real relaxing weekend with the three of them, but she kept reassuring us things were going well. :)

Baby Shower

A couple of weeks ago, I helped host a baby shower for my good friend Amanda who is expecting her first little angel at the end of the month.  Nothing gets you in the baby mood more than a bunch of ladies sitting around talking about babies!  I also got to try out a few pinterest projects that turned out great for the shower.  It was so much fun to decorate with all the pink and bows.  Amanda is having a baby girl in a matter of weeks, and we can not wait for her to get here!

Check out the Diaper Motorcycle..... How cute is that :)

The cake not only looked adorable, but tasted delicious too!

Spring Break

Well we get back on our normal schedule tomorrow.....our spring break is over.  We were able to do a lot of things though and get in lots and lots of family time.

On Friday when break started, Erin and I headed out to Colorado with our friends, Amanda and Dustin, for a little vacation in the mountains.  We started out in Denver for two days.  The weather was wonderful and we were able to get out and enjoy it.  We went downtown on St.Patty's Day to watch some of the basketball games.  Little did we know that Denver has a HUGE parade and there were people everywhere.  We got stuck in the middle of it all and it took us a bit just to get through it and find a place to eat, but we did and were able to enjoy the afternoon.  We also got to take the tour of the Coors Brewery in Golden.  Erin was the only one who had never been there, so it was something to check out before we left.

We then headed up the mountains a bit to Breckenridge for two days.  Erin and Dustin did a little skiing/snowboarding while Amanda and I went shopping.  It was a lot colder, but we still had a great time hanging out and eating a lot :)

While we were out of town Lukas got to spend some time with his grandparents.  He hung out with Grandpa and Grandma Keeley for two days and then went to Claflin for two days with Grandpa and Grandma Beck.  This was the longest I had been away from him so I was a little worried (by worried I mean for me, not Lukas, he loved being with his grandparents).  We all had a great 4 days and were happy to be back together for the rest of break!

Here are the pictures we received while out of town :)

**I will tell you about the rest of our break on another post.  This is all I got for now**

Rub a Dub Dub, Three Men in a Tub

Okay so its not exactly a tub, and you can't really call Lukas a man, but Sunday we had a little fun in the hot tub.  Erin and Dustin were determined to fix the small leak we had since we got it.  Apparently it was pretty simple once they got the piece they needed.  To test it out, we went ahead and filled up the hot tub for the fall.  We figured there may be some evenings we could use it.  While working on this, Lukas thought he should test it out and go for a little swim.  There was no way I was getting in the water...way to cold for my liking.  Erin and Dustin joined him though, and Lukas was loving it.  He really enjoys watering things with the hose, so once he realized it was in there he took charge!
