Worlds of Fun

Last weekend a co-worker invited the family out to Worlds of Fun for the evening.  They have season passes and had a couple of free passes to share with a friend.  We thought why not, we haven't been in years and it would be fun to see what the kids think.

I am a little shocked on the way they price things there.  $30+ a person is a little steep, especially when a 3 year old costs full price.  Like I said, we had free tickets, but it did convince me not to put this on our schedule for regular visits.  Now I know if we ever do go, we need to go early and stay as long as possible to get our moneys worth.

The Camp Snoopy area was really neat.  Lukas loved all of the rides.  Lawson was able to get on a few things, but you have to be able to walk on most of them and we are still a little ways from that.  He doesn't mind hanging out people watching with Mom since rides are not my forte.  Lukas seems like he will be a roller coaster kid, so Dad will have a buddy to ride them with soon.  It was a great family evening and we broke out of our shell and met some new people as well.

Football Season has Arrived

Friday night the boys and I spent an evening out supporting Dad and his team.  It was just a scrimmage, but we are getting excited for the season and loved getting out for the night.  This was Lawson's first big experience of a football game and he loved it.  Seeing all of the players on the field was entertaining to him.  He just stood on the bleachers, clapping and yelling.  It was adorable.  Lukas had his bag full of toys that all the other little kids around were eyeing.  It may seem crazy to bring a bag with 10+ cars in it, but if he is smiling and having fun playing then it is worth it.  I am a little nervous about how this season will go having two young ones to keep entertained all game.  The trial run went well last night.  I have a lot of help as well with the Webbs and I'm sure some grandparents will be making some games.

Lets hope we have a lot to cheer about through out the year  Go TRUMAN!!!

Perfect Smile!

Lukas had his first trip to the dentist last week.  I didn't know what to expect, but I guess it was a success.  They had me stay out in the waiting room when they first started.  Apparently it goes better when they can try without Mom in the room and see how it goes.  (I was a little sad I didn't get to watch.  I know..cut the cord.  He is a big boy who will experience things without Mom being right there)  They old me everything looked good though.  No cavities, good tissue (whatever that means) and to just keep brushing.  They tried to clean and polish them, but Lukas lasted about 5 teeth before he said that was enough.  I guess that is pretty normal though.  He was excited to pick out a new tooth brush and a toy in the treasure box!  He did a great job and we all left smiling :)

I did sneak a couple pictures when they left to get his toothbrush.  It is a blog necessity.

Fishy Went Bye Bye

You would think that anyone could have a pet fish.  It seems like the perfect pet for a toddler.  Its safe from his dirty hands in his little fish bowl; can go about his business without really being bothered by others.  Well somewhere in that perfect little world something wasn't so perfect.  We found Monk floating at the top of his little blue tree yesterday.  I'm not sure what exactly got him, but he was definitely not doing too well.  Lukas started out thinking he was asleep.  I told him I didn't think he was sleeping but that he had died.  Lukas was a bit confused as to how he died, (even blaming Grandma who was here visiting) and thought we could still keep him.  He was perfectly content with keeping a floating fish in the bowl to look at.  I on the other hand was not.  We discussed with him the different options we had, flush him, trash him, or bury him.  When we mentioned flush he freaked out so that was quickly eliminated.  We decided to go with the burial since Lukas loves to dig in the dirt.  I think we had a good send off for the little guy.  Not sure if we will attempt at Monk #2 any time soon or not :)

10 Months of Lawson

Another month has flown by.  We have headed back to school and are trying to get into our routine.  Our little man is two months from being one already.  I remember heading to school on the first day last year anticipating his arrival and trying to be prepared for it.

10 Month Pics:

Things about Lawson:
  • He is wearing 9 month clothing or 6-12 stuff.  Every now and then we try to squeeze him in a 6 month onesie, but those need to be put away.  He also wears some 12 month stuff because it matches up better season wise with what we had from Lukas.
  • Diapers are size 4.
  • Eating wise he loves to try it all.  We have gotten into more meats and things that we eat.  I have not found anything that he won't eat yet.  He also does bottles mixed in through out the day 6-7 ounces.
  • We have been working on a sippy cup and he has gotten better.  We only try it with water.
  • He gained 2 teeth this month!  He now has both the top two to go along with the bottom two.  They came in together and it was a rough couple of weeks, but seems to be doing good now.
  • Sleep is going well for the most part.  He sleeps through the night and still takes 1-2 naps a day.  The morning one is usually pretty short.  (Although last night he didn't want to sleep much at all.  It was my first experience of this with either of my kids where they just wanted to get up and play at night.)
  • Walking has become more of an interest.  He likes to use the little walking toy and practice.  He moves along furniture or walks holding people's fingers.
  • He can stand for just a few seconds without holding on to anything.
  • He doesn't like to sit back and watch.  If people are playing or wrestling in front of him he wants to jump right in.
  • He loves to play with Lukas' cars.  Lukas is nice and gives him a  pile of them, however Lawson usually gravitates towards the pile Lukas is playing with.  :)
  • He waves bye bye and talks a lot.  Not saying much of Dadda or Momma though.
  • He loves attention and likes to give hugs when he sees you.
  • Lawson also loves to look through the kitchen cabinets and see how much he can get out at once
  • Lawson is such a happy baby and gives the biggest smile when he sees people.  He knows exactly how to brighten anyones day!!

Summer at the Zoo

Since the zoo is one of our favorite places to visit, I decided to wait until the end of summer before I shared our many adventures.  We were able to go multiple times and took all sorts of people with us on the trips.  Lukas loves to talk to the animals and knows where they are.  I have a hard time skipping by something without him noticing.  By the end of the summer, Lawson has even gotten a bit more interested in the animals.  He loves to get up close to the glass and look at them.  He has no problem riding along in the stroller as well and enjoying the people watching.  We are looking forward to more trips this fall!

Grandpa Keeley came to join us and the Keeley's at the zoo.

Grandma Beck came and enjoyed a warm morning with us.
Rubbing the Buddha belly, Lawson in awe of the polar bear's tricks.
Our last trip was Super Hero Day at the zoo this weekend.  We got to meet Captain America and Thor.
We had a big group over the weekend with Aunt Beth back in town.  We got through the zoo before the rain really moved in.
