Mr. and Mrs. Engelbrecht

For our last weekend of summer we got to help celebrate Elisha (Erin's sister) and Josh's wedding.  It was a great weekend of wedding festivities, fun, and family.  Lukas and Lawson were ring bears for the wedding.  This was a first for Lawson so I didn't know how we were going to do.  He is such a copy cat of big brother though I figured if we could get Lukas down the aisle, Lawson would follow.  They did great and everyone thought they were adorable (I have to agree)  We spent the afternoon and evening then partying the night away.  The boys did very well and loved the dance.  Lawson was tearing up the dance floor, especially a fan of the dj's lights.  I did capture a few moments from the weekend.

Congrats again to Josh and Elisha!  It was a beautiful wedding and such a great weekend with everyone together.  Welcome to the family Josh!

Party, Party, Party!

This year for Lukas' birthday we had some scattered plans so I decided we would just do some birthday celebrations for him all week.  Who doesn't want to stretch their birthday out for multiple days.  The weekend before we were back in Claflin so did a little get together with his grandparents and some family.  We had a little pizza party and cake.  He loved it all!

Then on Wednesday evening we had his friends birthday party.  Of course I had been thinking with it being middle of July it was going to be hot and a water party would be fun.  I rented a blow up water slide to play in.  Oddly enough we had the coolest week ever in July I think and it was like 70 degrees.  Although it canceled the water part of the slide the kids still loved the bounce house part and it made for a wonderful evening out doors.  We had all sorts of friends/cousins that could make it and had a great time.

This guy ate nothing but sugar all week I'm pretty sure.

What a crew.... Hagen, Ava, Thomas, Huxten, Reese, Cade, Lawson, Lukas and Keeley
On his actual birthday we went and celebrated at one of his cousin's parties.  He loved getting to play with all the other kids.  We did a special Birthday dinner for him at Texas Roadhouse so he could get some ice cream and ride on the saddle.  It was a great birthday week!

Apparently neither boy wanted to break through the tissue paper.

Happy Birthday Lukas!!!  We LOVE you!!

Lukas Turns 4

Our first born is 4 years old today.  It is unbelievable to me.  Four just sounds so much older than three.  I feel like this is a real turning point from toddler to little boy.  He is getting too big to carry and does so much on his own now.  Where has the time gone?

  • Lukas is still blonde as can be, but I do think his eyes have changed from blue.  Not sure what color exactly they are though.
  • He has such a gentle heart.  He is always very concerned for others and gives the best hugs when your sad.  He has a very caring personality.  He is very aware of his feelings and how different things affect him.  My favorite line is when he tells you, "Your breaking my heart" usually because you aren't doing something he wants but still so cute.
  • Not sure where he got it from, but he loves to bring me flowers.  He tells me that girls like flowers and loves to pick them for me.  He has Lawson started on it now too.  Trying to keep them out of people's flower beds is the only challenge, but they mean well.
  • Lukas has become quite the singer.  He does all sorts of songs but sings with such emotion in each of them.  He especially likes to sing in the bathroom.  It must help pass the time :)
  • Big Brother duties are very important to him.  He has started to have his own little conferences with Lawson to try and calm him down or help him out.  They have started playing together a lot more.
  • Lukas has a memory that is unreal to me.  He remembers things and talks about them as if everything happened yesterday (which in his mind it is always yesterday).  I usually have to think pretty hard and ask him questions to figure out what he is talking about.  It makes tricking him about things very difficult.
  • His memory always impresses me with shows and movies.  When he plays he likes to act out scenes with his toys and is very adamant that he has all of the people and says their lines.  I have never been very good with movie lines so I know he gets that from Daddy.
  • He does make it kind of hard to play with him sometimes though.  He has everything planned out in his head, he will ask you to play with him, but usually we do it wrong.  He gets worked up and it is usually best just to sit down with him and let him do the playing while you watch.
  • Lukas has many interests right now: DINOSAURS (the kid can name more kinds of dinosaurs than I even knew about), planes, trains, Ninja Turtles
  • He is still very into puzzles, I spy games, and reading.  He has very little interest in coloring or writing of any kind (hoping pre-school will help with that)
  • Outside brings out the wild boy in him.  He loves to get dirty looking for bugs and worms and chasing animals.  He could play with bubbles for hours.
  • My favorite thing that Lukas does right now though is out of no where he will stop and say, "Mom, I like you!" or "Dad, I like you!"  I don't know how that coming from his little smiling face doesn't just make your day.

Lukas you bring so much joy and love to this family.  You make us laugh with your silly stories and smile with your sweetness.  We love you so much and are so proud of the little boy you are.

Happiest Place on Earth

Well we have been home from Disney World for a couple of weeks and I am still trying to sort through all of our pictures.  Looking through them just makes me smile thinking of all the wonderful memories we left there with.  My parents have been planning this trip for 2 years now and with the help and Disney knowledge of my brother and sister-in-law an amazing trip was planned.  We did it all!  It was our first big vacation with our children and except for a few moments of break downs things went very smoothly.  We were there for a week and got to visit Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios.  We were very busy, but I wouldn't expect anything less from a Keeley vacation.

Here are just a "few".  I will have to share more when I get the rest on my computer.

I want to go back :)
